This message is a heartfelt call for more assistance to your users. I purchased your product (STWI070WT-01) to create an industrial equipment project. I noticed the care with which you carry out the shipments of your products (Demo board, USB to UART adapter, connector cables …). All really great. Your hardware is very powerful. I immediately installed the necessary software (Stone Gui Designer r. 0.1.2) and I tried to understand how your displays interface with the electronic devices that have to communicate with them. In short, how the STONE world works. I joined your forum trying to find useful information for the design.
But I stopped and I couldn’t go any further. The software (GUI Designer) is incomplete and malfunctioning. It is not possible to compile, it is not possible to carry out the simulation. For the various commands in the “properties” section there are no tutorials and examples. It is not clear how to implement software communication between an MCU and the display. JSON language is impractical for designers. I saw some tutorials on Youtube in which it was noted that previous releases of “Stone GUI Designer” (November 2019) had the Running and the Compile working. Why are they no longer functional now?
You sent me a newer version of the software (r. 1.0.0) but it is even less functional than the previous one. I am aware that it takes time to fix the software but, if the waiting interval is too long, your users will abandon you. I have great confidence in the quality of your hardware and for this I sincerely ask you to speed up the development of your software. One last tip: use more colored and less gray screens. Finally, I repeat that I strongly believe in your products but please be more friendly towards your users. Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you. W Stone Technology.Hmm, version 1.0.0 has some minor flaws, but they are not critical. I also create a project for industrial equipment and have been working with this version of Stone Designer for about two weeks now and so far everything is working without serious difficulties. Yes, there is some lack of information in the descriptions of widgets, but for the most part everything is clear enough, and what is incomprehensible is quite easily determined empirically 🙂 Yes, emulation does not work yet and this is bad, but in principle you can do without it by loading the project directly to the display. So far, I have been able to develop the project without much difficulty.
I also tried Nextion displays, their software, of course, is better developed, and there are also quite advanced scenarios that the display can perform on its own without an external MCU, but they are rather household and poorly suited for industrial solutions – in terms of temperature range, in terms of nutrition , by interface. And in terms of power, they are inferior to the Stone. For example, animation, which is played at a maximum frequency of 4-5 frames per second on Nextion, is easily played on Stone at 20 frames per second. What exactly doesn’t work for you?
I have seen many videos where the simulation works. I also often read that there should already be version 1.3. or even 1.9. Why does everyone have a different version.
It seems that the simulation worked only in the old version of the program – Tools 2019. In the new program – Stone Designer – I have never seen a video with a running simulator anywhere.
About the versions – it seems that only a couple of days ago version 1.1.4 appeared with minor changes (the simulation still does not work).
As for the simulation – its absence, of course, saddens, but it is quite possible to work without it 🙂https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0kwbAR93Wo&t=677s
check 11:17 in the video.
also the design of the program is diffrent
Very interesting, thanks. I watched 7 or 8 videos with this program and did not see a simulation anywhere.
But in this form as in the video – just displaying the appearance of the windows – the simulation does not make any sense. The simulator must be able to work with the COM port, sending and receiving display events and commands, so that you can check the work with an external MCU.
You can see how the developed windows look in the Stone Designer itself, for this you don’t need a simulator 🙂
