These displays do not work through a USB to UART converter, only through a special connector. Use Stone Designer to design the interface, then click the Debug -> Download menu in it and specify the place where to put the created project, there the program will create the “default” directory and write all the project data into it. Create the directory “STONE\Project” in the root of the USB flash drive and copy the “default” directory with the project data into it. That is, if you have the name of the connected flash drive E:, then you should get E:\STONE\Project\default . Well, several directories with project data inside this path.
Set the switch on the display to the “Host” position, turn on the display and insert this flash drive into it.Thanks for your reply Andrey, but I tried every recommendation that you gave me. It does not work. I need to use Tool 2019 due to my project is to integrate the screen with Arduino, sending/receiving some state variables. I could comunicate the screen with Stone Design but it was not what I wanted to do with Arduino.
It has been a really bad experience to use this screen, even for small project. The graphics and so are quite good, but it is not easy to integrate with different controller. Im really disapointed about this screen functionality.
Thanks for your help
Load bar appears on screen, but nothing is loading. Bar remains blank (light gray bar, white screen background), no indications of loading program on screen.
On the contrary, I have a rather positive experience in developing a project using these displays. There is some slowness when opening windows with many elements (40-90 widgets in a window) and not everything works as we would like, but in general, all my interface tasks have been completed. 15 windows with workflow and different menus, pop-up warning windows, some windows have 40-90 active widgets – everything works fine 🙂
I’m afraid the new displays no longer work with Tools 2019. Although only official support can say for sure.
If a progress bar appears during loading, but there are no inscriptions, then as an assumption, an incorrect project was loaded into the display, which included an incorrect (for this display) “default” font. When loading new project, the display shows all texts using this “default” font that was loaded with the previous project. Thanks Andrey! I got a project to load following your instructions which had better detail than the ones provided. Can somebody confirm that uploading a project using the special cable with the display in “device” mode does not work? When I plug it into the PC I never get a notification that a new USB device has been connected. I am following the instructions in the Download_Project_Instruction.pdf file. Host mode works but has a few more steps.
After switching the display to “device” mode, it should be defined as a removable storage device when connected to a computer, which has a “default” directory containing the loaded project. Windows will swear that there are problems in the connected disk that need to be fixed, but nothing needs to be fixed.

That is what I expected but the PC doesn’t see it. I did check the continuity of the switch. Maybe I just got a bad board. Once I did it a few times host mode is pretty quick and easy.
Yes, PC to the USB port on the display with the USB-A to USB-A cable provided. (The same port I plugged the USB stick into). I’m happy using HOST mode. Using this display just became plan B anyway.
Hmm, I don’t even know what else to suggest then. It is possible that the host/device mode switch itself is faulty, or some other fault on the display board.
I decided not to use the “device” mode at all, since it’s just inconvenient when the display is connected to the computer via an adapter. Switching the USB cable from the adapter to the display every time, or connecting the display with another USB cable – I don’t like this idea. It’s easier to stick a flash drive into the display and wait a few seconds until the display updates the project from it 🙂
