    Hi, your idea is correct, you only need to solder J25 and then you can only use the 5v power supply.

    J17 is only the serial port that does not affect the power supply.

    If we solder J25 … does this mean that we can power the screen from the usb ? or directly from the arduino ? thanks!

      If you switch the jumper on the converter to USB, you can directly power the display by the USB mini port on the converter. No need to solder the J25. J25 is for the VCC input power voltage.

      Thank you for your answer, but i already tried that and it did not work, i must be doing something wrong but when i switch the jumper to USB on the converter the screen can not turn on, starts blinking, please see attached files.

      I’ve consulted with the engineer and it seems that the USB power option just provides 5V DC, so I was wrong at the beginning. Only when the display was set as 5V mode can works with this mode.

      And the USB port have limited power, only up to 500 mA, so it is difficult to power on some big size display. 7 inches is not recommended to power on by USB. Only smaller size like 4.3, 3.5 is available to use USB power.

      I figured but i was intrigued  and wanted to confirm, yes USB provides 5V and if the screen is changed to 5V i thought it can be powered by the USB maybe … thank you!
