The STONE LCD screen is variable-driven, so that all displayed characters, icons, etc. are defined as a variable, a variable storage address is allocated, a display format is defined, a configuration file is generated and downloaded to the display terminal. When the display needs to be refreshed, the user simply sends the variable content and the variable storage address to the display terminal via the serial port and the display automatically follows the defined display format.
The display format is fixed for each variable and is defined by a configuration file that is downloaded to the STONE screen. If the user needs to temporarily change the display format of a variable, this can be done using the description pointers described in this chapter.
